yes, yes, and you know he had to.
with many republican establishment figures, both nationally and locally seeking to distance themselves from 'their candidate', you know he had to get behind one of their own, especially one who tends be one of the few who is universally respected, if not outrightly loved by the party. and this isn't even taking into consideration he may eventually be "THE ONE" to lead the gop's next attempts for a possible oval office takeover.
after his juvenile attempt at what i'm sure he considered humor with his (dare i say?) 'plagiarized' usage of "i'm not quite there yet" first used by ryan, he had to stand in front of his green bay audience and claim once again that 'for the good of party unity' he was going to support and endorse ryan for re-election. wow! support AND endorse. if you remember the difference you know that by giving him both he had to be serious. support is like a promise ring. endorse is like "DAMMIT! set a date!!" now, to be honest, i'll have to go back to watch that whole segment of his speech (something i'm not looking forward to since anything more than the shortest of snippets make me want to hurl) but from what i did hear his actions were only to try to help republicans retain their majorities in the house and senate. if there were the usually required compliments praising someone for how 'great' they are, how they are the most 'talented' and 'qualified' and how they are 'what's best for the country' i obviously missed them. it was just the continuingly ubiquitous claim that it's all for the good of the party. and here i thought these were the people who were so proud of always saying 'country first'.
i don't know if nehlen was there. after his enthusiastic endorsement of donald in the last two weeks i have to think he at least showed up hoping for a face-to-face like a nervous tweener bieber fan hoping to take a selfie or, dare he hope, an awkward air-kiss. i mean, if pence got one....? in a way i feel sorry for him in a kinda-sorta-not really kind of way. he must have thought there was going to be something in it for him (even though, as i previously noted, the campaign admitted they supported him even though they didn't think he had any chance of winning) like the nerdish kid who fawns all over the popular kid, then gets invited to the popular kid's party and everyone gets a nice parting gift but him. nehlen's going to have to be satisfied with a feeble slap on the back and a pat on the head.

one final note about nehlen: i don't know if it was an attempt to use a little tongue while kissing donald's ass or what but he doubled down on trump's proposed muslim ban. he claimed we should take it a step farther....a BIG step....by not just banning future immigrants but by starting to deport those that are already here, even legally. now, a very small part of me would like to think that if donald heard this he might have said to himself "WHOA! dude! that's a little harsh even for me!", but, like i said, it was a very small part and even that part has it's doubts.
