today the subject is SUPPORT. not the kind that is good for you like you might find in hose, a girdle or a truss but more like the "i kinda-sorta, don't really want to but have to to 'cause mommy says so".
while donald trump is retaining the SUPPORT of many in his own party despite the fact that he continues to say so many things they disagree with and many times they outrightly condemn, they glaringly refuse to come out with a full-on endorsement. they have stated many reasons (i.e. party unity) for their actions....or shall we say inactions....but they all seem to be rather self-serving. the primary one, as i see it, is that if the unlikely and unthinkable happens and trump does get elected, they want to be seen as the go-along-to-get-along guys in order to eventually benefit from the possible largesse of their benevolent leader.
yesterday, at the opening of the wisconsin state fair, our 'beloved' governor, scott walker, was asked by a reporter why he continues to support his candidate despite all the hateful and ignorant things (think his asking what's the use in having nuclear weapons if we can't just go ahead and use them) he's been saying. after calling hillary 'totally unqualified', he went on to say that it's because he doesn't want to be part of anything that would put her in the white house. can't help but want to tell poor scotty but i'm afraid that ship has just about sailed. and despite his SUPPORT it should be noted that at tonight's first joint appearance of trump and pence in green bay, he, our republican senator and our 'favorite eddie munster' paul ryan will be nowhere in sight, citing those pesky 'previous commitments'. it should be noted that ryan's opponent in next week's primary endorsed trump 11 days ago and i'm going to assume will be there and even hold a place of note (i won't go so far as to say honor. donald might remember his name and let him wave) left open by the major republicans so obviously absent. not just expressed his SUPPORT, mind you, but went that full-on endorsement for which others just can't seem to commit. in return, donald expressed his thanks and offered him his SUPPORT, note not endorsement.
now, here's where it gets a little confusing because yesterday in an abc interview trump's campaign manager, paul manafort, said the reason trump did not either support or endorse paul ryan with his 'i'm just not ready' was because he doesn't want to become involved in local races and the only reason trump publicly thanked and voiced his SUPPORT for ryan's opponent was simply because nehlen 'likes' him and that's much more important than SUPPORTing someone they think can win....which manafort admits he can't. in other words....if this is starting to spin out of control....it's better to be endorsed by a loser who likes you than endorse someone you're sure will win who might not like you quite so much. but as manafort also said by next week his boss will come out for ryan. whether that means SUPPORT or endorsement, who's to tell. after all, trump did say he didn't want to get involved.
so that's my BITS AND PIECES for today and i hope it might have cleared up whatever confusion you mave had concerning the difference between SUPPORT and endorsement.
or maybe not.
class dismissed.
