BITS AND PIECES 15

i realize it's only friday and technically the week isn't over but i decided to shake the internet to see what crumbs might fall out.   and speaking of crumbs, one of the freshest appears to be one concerning paul manafort.   after being subtly but nevertheless unceremoniously pushed aside for fresher but no less tainted blood, paul resigned from the trump campaign this morning in an act of honorable harakiri.   of course, one shouldn't feel too badly for him.   i hear they have an opening in the ukraine.   trump released a statement thanking paul for his 'great work' in helping his campaign 'get us to where we are today', apparently appreciating the view from the bottom of a slowly draining toilet.   now with bannon firmly on board and in charge...for now, that place seems to have a well-oiled revolving door....some gop sources (i know not always reliable but....) are saying that there could soon be a 'transitioning' of more breitbart employees over to the trump campaign.   i'll assume they'll bring their conspiracy theories with them.  and   let's not ignore the other fresh face, kellyann conway.  when asked about how she'll work to try and keep her boss on point and hopefully rein in his well-known temperament, she said you can't just tell him what to do. you have to give him options so he believes that his is the best decision.   with that she gave an example of how she convinces her 11-year-old daughter to choose the right color shirt to wear to school.   so, that's the secret?  treat trump like an 11-year-old girl.   how easy is that.

after donald's speech on tuesday regarding race relations before an 'predominantly (i.e. all) white' audience in west bend in which he also stretched out his hand to black voters (who were in obviously short supply at the event, if there at all) rudy giuliani couldn't help but declare that it was probably 'the best republican speech ever given'.   really?   best ever given?   well, consider he also said there were 'no successful radical islamic attacks' in the u.s. before obama so, you know.   rudy also agreed with donald about the state of america's intelligence machine saying 'it has been terrible (possibly now remember 9/11 happened but blaming it on you-know-who) so it should come as little surprise that, before going in to his first intelligence briefing on wednesday, donald said that he would probably not take their advice seeing as how, in his opinion, they're the ones that got us into this mess to begin and since 'they've made such bad decisions'.  and for whatever reason he had his favorite lapdog, chris christie, in tow.  maybe it was to give him the expert advice he feels he needs.   or just in case anybody needs a refill and a fresh cruller.

donald also revealed what he claims is the reason the new york times treats his so unfairly.....it's own by mexico.   more than likely referring to carlos sim, the mexican billionaire who loaned the paper $250 million in 2009 and then exercised his option last year to take 15.9 million shares in exchange for a payback.   according to the company, however, he maintains no position on the board or has any voting rights.   but never let it be said that donald isn't going to take advantage to make that jump when there's 'one of them' involved, just as he did with judge curiel in his trump university ruling.

with the chances of the gop retaining it's senate majority continuing to look 'slim', paul ryan has decided to run a marathon, hat in hand, through eight at-risk states in order to try to prevent the same hemorrhaging in the house.   after handily trouncing his opponent in the wisconsin primary, he'll probably skip wisconsin.   after all, he's only their representative and begging for votes is more important for the sake of the party.

now, taking a time machine (but without mr. peabody and sherman) back to the republican convention, i'd like to remind people of the emotional speech given by patricia smith in which she blames hillary clinton of being 'personally responsible' for the death of her son, sean, in benghazi.   though never specifically stated, the audience there and at home was led to believe she wrote the moving words herself.   now this week it came to light in an op-ed piece in the baltimore sun by long-time republican party staff member, richard cross, that he was indeed the author of that riveting, tear-inducing speech.   why now, might you ask, would he decide to reveal this possibly unintentional (yeah, right!) subterfuge?   because after what's happened in the ensuing weeks he's decided that he can no longer support his party's nominee because of what he calls 'epic deficiencies'.   though he doesn't say he will, he does say that he 'just may have to vote for her', and he's not referring to jill stein.

and, finally, in order to leave you going out with a smile, in regards to the statue of a naked donald (no, i won't subject you to another picture again), apparently titled 'the emperor has no balls' and created by the anarchist collective indecline, it seems there were replicas in cities across the country.   the one in new york stood for quite a while (no word on how long the others remained on display) enabling probably hundreds to click selfies with this not-quite unique 'work of art' until the city parks and rec workers came to tote it away. but they had to get in their not-so-subtle dig after they did their civic duty.   spokesman sam biederman said, "nyc parks stands firmly against any unpermitted erection in city parks, no matter how small."

good one, sam.
