reconnecting

after many years, i'm starting to reconnect with people that have long been out of my life.  it's scary and intimidating but, at the same time, exciting.  there are going to times i won't know what to say since so much has passed and much has been missed.  in so many ways, we're going to have to get to know each other all over again, having become strangers on many levels..  how do i figure out what to say?  i know this happens all the time and i am not the first to have this happen,  even when staying in close proximity, people change, move on, find themselves in circumstances that create distances.  decisions are made, for better or worse, and repairing any breaches can be difficult.  there is no going back because we are where we are by virtue of those decisions.  reconnecting won't be easy, but i hope that all things are possible.  the closeness may not be as strong, but i hope the bonds will strengthen even over the distances that grew over time.  it may be daunting, one step, one day, one reconnect at a time.  we shall see...hoping for the best.
