another week passes...

let's tackle the biggest elephant in the room first..the defiant statement by the n.r.a. concerning the tragedy at newtown,  after being silent for a week, lapierre, executive v.p. of the n.r.a., steps up to blame almost every area of social culture for escalating incidents of violence in america, saying the only answer to it all is to put more guns on the street, or at least, in every school in the country.  he blames video games, movies, music and music videos for creating these dangerous people.  however, i would like to find out that, if a survey was taken, how many members of his organization watch these movies or play these video games?  he says that many of his members would volunteer to take on this security task.  though many of these people would be stepping up out of the goodness in their hearts, how many would  be doing it just for the thrill of "packing heat"?  and he doesn't mention the shootings in malls, churches, temples and beauty salons.  or, as in just the past day, in someone's own driveway.  people with guns are not everywhere a violent incident may happen, but i'm sure that prospect is something i'm sure makes him shiver with anticipation...just give EVERYONE a gun, no background checks, no required training, no permits....fill up the pinata at your kid's next birthday party and whack away, ammo in the take-home gift bag.  we need to return to a sane and logical discussion on responsible ownership and stop sowing seeds of fear and paranoia.  along the same line, a portion of hell must have just frozen over.  christian schneider,  labeling himself a nonpartisan conservative (i know, oxymoron), wrote in the wednesday 12/19 edition of the journal sentinel an op-ed piece i find myself agreeing with; shedding his basic right-leaning agenda of the past election cycle, he has composed a thoughtful, personal expression.  this agreement may not happen again for a long time, so thank you.  and one more...fox news channel's reporters and anchors are "strictly prohibited" from discussing gun control when reporting on the newtown shootings.  hear that?  another corner of hell just got a little frosty.     staying in the political vein, dear gov. walker stated on dec 12 that "he" had created "just under 100,000 jobs" so far, but even one of his own aides said he's "misrepresenting the truth" by cherry-picking numbers and mixing data sources, something he is SO quick ti jump on when democrats do it.  actual numbers are closer to 27,811.  politifact gave walker a "pants on fire" rating.         a recent facebook campaign urging mormon women to wear pants to worship services in order to promote a discussion for a greater role for women in a male-dominated religion ha to be shut down because of death threats.  any reaction from mitt and ann?       AND NOW.....on the lighter side....a federal judge in louisianna ruled recently that a woman does not have to take down her lighted "holiday" display of a large hand flipping the bird.  HOORAY for freedom of expression!!  and here's to a woman saying what so many so often feel!!!     and in a recent study done somewhere by someone, and mentioned on the view this week, porn stars tend to have higher self-esteem and are more spiritual.  what else can i say on that?    returning to the political for a moment, mitch mcconnell, gop leader in  senate, says it's the president's job to find a plan that will pass congress.  really?  with so many in his party that are willing to stand in the way of ANY plans coming out of the oval office?  maybe you should hold some classes on the meaning of compromise and what it means to represent the people and not just the gop. i think it's about time they start listening to the will of the people and not some stupid pledge they signed way-back-when.   well, this is the last before the holidays.  hope everyone enjoys, each according to his own beliefs, the magic and joy of the season.  peace and love.
