ARE WE FEELING BETTER NOW?

                                 all together now, 'ma-ma-ma-ma-my corona!'

in what i'm supposing was meant to be an attempt to show his depth of concern and involvement in controlling the covid-19 outbreak in the united states, out supreme and stable genius made a visit on friday, march 6th.  wearing his 'keep america great' cap he just couldn't help but turn it into a self-promoting appearance, slamming democrats and telling lies in order to prove that he's got everything under control.

the lies apparently began before the visit even started.  initially scheduled to start earlier in the day, it was suddenly postponed because, according to the white house, they "did not want to interfere with the CDC's mission", later having donny say, "They thought there was a problem with CDC with somebody who had the virus.  It turned out negative...so I may be going."  the only problem was that, SURPRISE! nobody at the cdc was aware of anybody being tested either positively or negatively for the virus.  i mean, if you're going to lie at least clue in everybody who's involved so they can have your back.

as the tour/photo-op continued, while praising the efficacy of the tests being developed he couldn't help but become political.  "The tests are all perfect.  Like the letter was perfect.  The transcript was perfect.  This was not as perfect as that, but pretty good."  let me see if i'm getting that last part right:  the tests are not as perfect as the phone call was?  honestly, won't he ever get over that damn phone call?

earlier at the white house he had told reporters "We have very low numbers [of confirmed cases] compared to major countries around the world.  Our numbers are lower than just about anybody." and he continued along that same line, telling his captive cdc audience, "I like the numbers being where they are.  I [note it's 'I', not 'we'] don't need numbers double because of one ship."  it's so typical for a man whose existence seems to center around numbers and ratings to feel that what's important isn't keeping the number of infected low  for the welfare of the country but is only what 'he' can't afford because...ratings.  that's not exactly what one would expect a man of compassion and empathy to say, but then we're talking about 'him'.  now, not being one who would relish throwing a monkey wrench into anyone's claims, his claim of numbers "...lower than just about anybody." is one i thoroughly enjoy knocking down.  according to figures released on march 6th, the same day as this little field trip, arcgis.com* put out numbers that placed the united states at #13 of the 130 countries reporting confirmed covid-19 cases with a total of 263, rising to over 330 by midnight, friday 3/7, according to the johns hopkins center for systems science and engineering.

as a man who loves being praised, he was not to be disappointed here.  cdc director, robert redfield, piled on the love as if he was auditioning for a seat on the fox propaganda couch.  "First I want to thank you for your decisive leadership...I also want to thank you for coming here.  I think that's the most important thing I have to say."  more important than saying you've got enough kits to send out to test every one who wants one or maybe to say you've actually discovered an affordable vaccine...or, maybe even a cure (which would obviously piss off a whole bunch of drug companies who won't be able to over-charge everyone by selling drugs that's just treat symptoms over extended periods of time)?  maybe they could come up with a cure for chronic sycophantism (i.e. ass-kissingitis) instead.

since i didn't get the whole thing but only in bits and pieces courtesy of mockpaperscissors, nbcchicago and today.line.me (thanks fellas), i couldn't figure out a better way to end then by using this gem:
"You know, my uncle was a great person.  He was at MIT.  He taught at MIT for,
I think, like a record number of years.  He was a great super genius.  Dr. John
Trump.  I like this stuff.  I really get it.  People are surprised that I understand it.  Every one of these doctors said, "How do you know so much about this?"  Maybe I have a natural ability.  Maybe I should have done that instead of running for President."
got that?  the guy who said windmills cause cancer, puerto rico is an island surrounded by lots of water, hurricanes are "tremendously big and tremendously wet" (asking his staff if they could be nuked) and climate change is just a chinese hoax has a "natural ability" to understand the science behind the coronavirus and how to combat it (like 'just wait for warm weather').

gotta ask, again, does any of that really make anyone feel better?  the only thing that will make me feel better is seeing lord dampnut standing in the unemployment line.  come november, #dumptrump #voteblue #votebluenomatterwho.

  1. I saw that interview and I swear I saw some of the people convulse or maybe they were just attempting to hold back eye rolls. But not one of them had the balls to say (or even move their lips) to say "...that was such bullshit..."
