what better way to show that they're the party of family values that to include almost all members of his immediate and extended family in the proceedings, with the exception of eric, tiffany and barron. now, i can understand not including barron since he's much too young. and tiffany has never seemed to offer an opinion on much of anything. but not including eric? i can only assume they decided that between daddy and junior they felt they had stupid covered.
prior to the convention, junior spent time telling his friends at fox, "For them [the democrats] to try to take a pandemic and seemingly hope that it comes here and kills millions of people so they can end Donald Trump's streak of winning is a whole new level of sickness." and retweeting from Erick Erickson, "...The Democrats first blasted him [Trump] for overreacting to the coronavirus and now are blasting him for not doing enough. The Democrats want a coronavirus outbreak to help them politically." now, let's stop there for a moment. when was he accused of 'overreacting' and by whom, especially by anyone on the left? for weeks he's been claiming there's nothing to worry about, that everything is under control, and as recently as his south carolina rally last friday calling it "the Democrat's new hoax" being spread with the help of 'the fake media'. he's repeatedly claimed that it was no worse than a cold and he was assured by china that it would start to disappear as soon as the weather started getting warmer. can someone, ANYONE please tell me, where in any of that, does any logical mind see the slightest degree of 'overreaction'? there was more 'overreaction' when he claimed windmills caused thousands of bird deaths...oh, and cancer.
once he got to the convention he was assigned the duty of addressing representatives of the nra, telling them "...we are up against a big juggernaut here. They will do whatever it takes to take away your rights, your ability to protect yourself. We must preserve our Second Amendment rights AT ALL COSTS [emphasis mine]." it was an obvious choice to have him address this faction on the freedom to protect oneself since he is widely known for protecting himself from 'dangerous' water buffalo, big-horn dall sheep and an elephant, even cutting off it's 'dangerous tail' in order to prove what a 'big man' he is. most recently he's one of three who has been issued a permit to hunt an endangered grizzly bear in alaska. IT MUST BE NOTED that all of these hunts were guided so it's not like he was alone in the wild and needed to kill in order to save his (or a loved one's) life.
other members of the family (or those family-adjacent) that were scheduled to speak included:
lara trump, wife of eric and president of trump for president, inc. who spoke about trump for president (duh!).
kimberly guilfoyle, girlfriend of stupid, junior, and president (or something) of donald j. trump for president,inc., which is different from trump for president, inc. because...well, just because, dammit!!
ivanka trump, daughter and presidential adviser, who engaged in a conversation with larry kudlow (taking time out from his important job on the coronavirus task force because...priorities) moderated by matt schlapp. i'm thinking she worked in a promo for her new designer line of covid19 face masks.
jared 'mr. ivanka' kushner, fresh from his successful negotiations to bring peace in the middle east, gets an interview all by himself with matt schlapp. maybe he'll sneak in a plug for those masks.
