the obedient kneel before the great orange one,
lest he smite them with deadly tweets.
since the moment the last wrapped up, preparations were being made for the recent gathering of the faithful this year at the gaylord national resort and convention center in national harbor, maryland. but unlike that one where they simply discussed policy and celebrated owning all three branches of government, this one is being held under the cloud of a coming election which could see the senate being overthrown and captured by the enemy, not to mention the throne potentially falling into the hands of evil socialists and haters the rule of law and the constitution, destroyers of freedom and all things american, indeed putting their very existence on the line.
not content to merely sit around chatting over their mutual love of religious freedom (as long as it only represents a blonde, blue-eyed christian god), the protection of life (except for when it's already born, put them in cages when they seek protection or deny them school lunches, adequate healthcare or a decent education) and the striving for the american dream (as long as it doesn't include earning a living wage or interfering with ceos raking in million dollar salaries or keeping corporations from raking in billions in profits), this year they find themselves in the position of having to play defense against several candidates bragging about building coalitions of diversity. no longer will it be enough to think alike, act alike and for the most part look alike but they find themselves in the position of having to make a show of inclusiveness and, whether they really mean it or not, embracing (what is this world coming to!!!) people who are different.
of course, god forbid, that doesn't mean everyone. inclusivity does have it's limits after all. for instance the gay conservative group, log cabin republicans, isn't allowed to speak or even have an official presence since it might offend the large evangelical base. so much for hate the sin but love the sinner, donchaknow. utah senator and former republican candidate for president, mitt romney, was dis-invited because of his audacity to vote his conscience in the senate impeachment trial. therefore he was deemed 'not conservative enough'. can't have someone like that attending since he might infect the others like bloody mary.
since the 2018 midterm swung on the vote of women, particularly african-american women, some are being included for their supposed ability to sway those two demographics.
author and commentator, candace owens, looked at by some on the left as a black, female glenn beck, found the ability to appeal to white voters while simultaneously attacking colin kaepernick and ta-nahisi coates and black icons like jesse jackson and al sharpton as "race hustlers". direct from their appearance praying over the president in the oval office with a group of black pastors, zircon and burlap...sorry, bad habit, diamond and silk gave their interpretation of a gospel sermon, calling on the audience to shun socialism and love america and telling their black brothers and sisters to throw off the shackles that bind them to the masters of the democratic plantation. if one wants to, elaine chao, secretary of transportation and wife of senate majority leader #moscowmitch mcturtle, might also be included in the women-of-color demographic though it wouldn't be unfair to consider her more white-by-marriage.
of the list of scheduled speakers*, totaling about 140, only 10 - 12 were people of color (including a fox commentator, an athlete, one service member and the founder and nra darling founder of the group 'black guns matter'). with the exception of a couple that looked like they were of asian descent most of the rest were men, white men, of varying ages. all...men and women...black, asian, or white...young or not so young...had one most important thing in common: the belief that 'he who was sent by god' is the power, the answer and shall not be questioned. to do that would mean you are an infidel, one of the unwashed. and despite any claims of wanting to be 'a big tent', at cpac some things just can't be allowed.
at cpac, the emperor must always have the best clothes and nobody dare say or think otherwise.
*if you care to see a list of the scheduled speakers you can find their pictures here: cpac.conservative.org/speakers/
NOTE: this was #1 in the series on cpac but due to my stupidity i mistakenly deleted it and had to rewrite it from memory. not sure i like it better but since i can't be sure if anybody else actually saw it, i apologize just in case.

And now they're saying that one of the attendees had the coronavirus. Ohhhhh, nooooooooooo!
ReplyDeleteIs it too tacky to chuckle gleefully?
