IT'S ABOUT TO GET REAL MESSY
boys and girls, y'all better duck and cover 'cause the fan is gonna get awful dirty.
after the latest revelation from parnas 'allegedly' showing mr. 'i did nothing wrong' was fully behind the removal of the ukraninan ambassador (which came out just before his attorneys began their rebuttals on saturday), now we have a portion of john bolton's book, titled 'the room where it happened', leaked from the white house. it had been submitted to them some weeks (?) back for a pre-publication review in order to be checked for any possible security concerns.
according to bolton's book, he was told in august BY TRUMP (from the horse's ass....er, mouth) that he wanted the military aid, already approved by congress, be withheld until the ukranians assisted in an investigation into the bidens, something trump has denied for months. this revelation by someone with direct knowledge, someone his defenders have been calling for throughout the house investigations, directly refutes their claims of a 'perfect call' showing the president 'did nothing wrong' and it was 'all about corruption' while backing up one of the primary allegations against the president.
since the new york times released the information, the number of senators showing interest in calling for new witnesses has reportedly increased, with the likes of romney and collins indicating they will more than likely support the democrats call for those witnesses and further documentation. but we'll see. for the moment it at least shows they and others just might be having second thoughts about toeing the mcturtle line. graham abruptly canceled a press conference scheduled for 11:30 monday morning with less than two hours notice and no explanation, so it's unclear if the bolton book excerpt had any bearing on his decision. maybe it's just purely coincidental. right, and, boy, do i have a deal on a bridge for you.
we'll have to wait until the session begins to see exactly how this all plays out and if any of this will affect how the defense plays their cards, suddenly finding themselves with a newer deck.
with time running down for the second day of republican rebuttals, it'll be interesting to hear how they start off the session.
MEANWHILE:
as expected, the president has denied via tweet bolton was ever told withholding the aid was tied to a biden investigation and the claims are only being made to help sell the book and the only real proof that is needed is "the transcript" (READ THE TRANSCRIPT...which is actually only a summary and not a transcript), showing "there was no pressure and no problems." and he "released the aid...with no conditions or investigations.", concluding with "my administration has done far more than previous administration (yeah, yay me, take that obama!)."
rudy giuliani said to abc news after the report came out, "i used to like and respect john...i was wrong.' and he's just making "...false and irresponsible barges (huh?) to write a book about his failed career." other trump minions, like matt gaetz, express much the same.
AND SPEAKING OF COINKY-DINKIES
whether or not you prescribe to the theory that the leak 1) came from someone in the white house wanting to bad mouth the prez or 2) said leak was done by 'someone' simply to hype the book and boost sales, at the same time the report came out, the book's amazon page went simultaneously live, i'll assume making it available for pre-order. now, for those of you who believe in coincidences (and i'm not here to in any way judge), i still have that bridge for sale. btw, the book is scheduled for release march 17th.
