IT'S A MIRACLE!!!!
i'll apologize beforehand because this may get out of control. if you're easily offended (because i surely am) i'm warning you to stop now.
WHAT THE FUCK!!
i never realized playing the 'poor-me-look-i'm-being-picked-on' martyr card was so damn profitable. and these people even got a shout-out from rush limbaugh. i'll assume no money since he's probably running short of ready cash with the withdrawal of all those sponsors (and he just seems like such and obvious tight-ass...WAD! tight-WAD!!), but a ready 'hey, i'm on your side' must be worth a whole lot. maybe if they can get it in writing and they happen to run through the rest of the donations they can sell it for a quick 25-cents. or get it on a photograph to frame and put on the wall of their new pizza parlor, 'MAMA BIGOT'S STRAIGHTSA ONLY PIZZA EMPORIUM AND CHAPEL'. if they're going to claim religious persecution they might as well claim they're now a church, that way they can really feel free to discriminate AND avoid paying taxes on all that dough (and the money).
i don't know why i'm so surprised. the owners of #MEMORIESPIZZA went public because someone (obviously in an evil liberal set-up) asked. it went out on-air (oh, what a despicable left-wing plot). it didn't seem that they were coerced into admitting to something that they seemed to proudly stand by: they would refuse to cater their pizza to a same-sex ceremony because homosexuality and same-sex marriages are sins they cannot condone. but suddenly, they're issuing a cry of foul and shuttering the place with claims of 'hiding in the house'...with only those well-orchestrated moments when they feel it necessary to go back on-air for a few more tears and garment-rending interviews. mind you, i don't condone any threats but that decision was theirs, and, in my opinion, done only to garner more sympathy. had they stayed open and something had happened (would i sound hypocritical if i said god forbid) that would have served their persecution claims far more (and more than likely just as profitable, since this it what it all seems to be about, at this point) than the actions they chose to take, besides putting their critics in an extremely bad, not to mention criminal, light. but who am i to argue with all that money piling up in the bank.
in a similar story, a jeff davis county, georgia (jeff davis, georgia pretty much says it all right there) claimed she would not sell to gays, but would however, sell to an adulterer because they are 'different kinds of sin'. so, who knew there was a sliding scale for sins you can choose to accept. i wonder where eating shellfish and wearing mixed fabrics fall? this one, however does not involve any money....yet. who knows how much she'll be able to collect once she comes out with her own tearful claims of persecution.
in a way, i can respect them for their honesty; they owned their bigotry. but that certainly doesn't mean they would gain any respect for being decent human beings. however, in doing so, they've gotten a resounding response from like-minded strangers who, more than likely, would roll their eyes and only grudgingly drop a few pennies, a stale life saver and some pocket lint into a cup to help feed a hungry homeless person. and that's if they felt generous and only if somebody was there to tap them on the shoulder to remind them 'jesus is watching'. that response, to the tune of a possible $1 million by easter, is what is the most astounding in this whole situation. maybe liberty u. can add this into one of their economics programs as an adjunct course in the meaning of prosperity gospel.
in the end, the law has been 'fixed' and signed which is slightly ironic after all the claims that there was nothing wrong with it in the first place. however, it did serve to put the governor in a bad light (boohoo!), making him appear as the hypocrite and asshole he really is. especially after that disaster of an interview with george stephanopolous last week. then arkansas fell and three more are stuck in committee in other parts of the country. but they couldn't be half as entertaining as this one was, even though i'm sure they might provide a chuckle* or two as only perceived 'good christian' hypocrites can.
*one little 'teehee' that came out of it was when pat 'the crypt keeper' robertson basically told the pizza makers to shut up because this was all about bakers making good christian cakes that shouldn't be sold for gay weddings and not pizzas. cakes. pies. big difference. but pat says and that's what counts. maybe it has something to do with italians. you know, they're catholic so they don't count as actual christians.
