i was just reading about that bundy character ( no, not al. and certainly not ted!) in nevada. seems he gathered quite a little following of like-minded folk who believe that they can pick-and-choose which laws they can follow and discard any that they decide are not in their best interest (like paying taxes, getting licenses or permits, registering guns or not shooting your neighbor because he talks or looks funny or wears a hoodie like a thug). seems the government decided to back off for what they considered worries over some safety concerns. not theirs, i'm sure, but that of a bunch of rambunctious, and more that likely liquored up and slightly delusional, self-described 'patriots' who were (i'll assume) approaching this whole thing like another version of 'world of warcraft', but with more lethal joysticks. there was a video attached which i didn't watch, but i envision a saloon scene from any generic western in which we have lots of dancing girls swung about by toothless prospectors firing randomly in every direction with 'yee-haws' aplenty while some disembodied voice shouts 'c'mon boys! drinks on the house!!'. okay, maybe not. but probably a lot of self-congratulatory back-slapping and high-fiving, some passed bottles and/or pocket flasks, some honkin' manly ceegars (the ones that look and smell like they came out of a horses ass) and quite a few expressions of victory. oh well. boys will be boys. let 'em dream. because, despite the bravado and no matter how well armed they thought they were, i don't believe any of them, except for the most rabid, expected it to go much beyond a few insults and threats. certainly not to the point of someone actually dying for....for what exactly?
a stranger and yet bound by some abstract delusional philosophy (but definitely NOT a racist!)?
some guy who agreed to pay a price for using land that wasn't his and then reneging on the agreement (but claims to not have a contract with the blm/government)?
a guy who hasn't apparently paid his taxes in...how long? taxes on money he was able to make by selling cattle that he was able to feed FOR FREE?
a guy who wants to select which rules and regulations that the rest of us follow because he's somehow special?
a guy who is more than likely one of the first to stretch out his grubby little fist whenever somebody even thinks 'subsidy'?
a guy who more than likely lives by the motto 'charity begins at home' because his money never leaves the house?
okay. i don't know the guy. i shouldn't be stereotyping. just because he SEEMS to identify himself with the sovereign citizen movement doesn't mean he IS a sovereign citizen, but walk, talk, smell, shit like a duck...?
and thus is created the latest in a long and ever growing line of those persecuted by the EVIL LEFT and born under the neon brand of the teapublican party...expeditiously labeled and marketed to those who claim to know the constitution but only the few parts that pertain directly to them; claim to be christian but live lives very unchristlike; claim to be patriotic even while promoting sedition and treason. while i would have loved to have seen them get the drubbing they so richly deserved, the last thing the government needed was to create another 'martyr of the moment' to be paraded out by every anti-anything-having-to-do-with-government talking head, ass and website.
besides, at the rate they're crawling out of the woodwork, we're going to end up running out of trees. i mean those crosses don't grow on...um...trees.
