Anyway, in what might be called an informal response to the Obama's Christmas message, the conservative Gateway Pundit couldn't help but post what might be considered a rebuttal of the traditional season's greeting by listing off all the reasons why the president's message was just a bunch of 'lies and bullshit'. From the beginning they criticize Michelle for 'nagging' (i.e. mocking some of his/their past awkwardnesses) her husband before moving on to the rather expected right-wing litany of the Obama 'failures' and how much we're all going to be so much better off now that the Savior Trump will be moving into the newly restored Oh-So-White House, apparently becoming what it should have been all along. At the end, and highlighted in red, they deliver their own holiday greeting, wishing all a 'Merry Trump Christmas'. Now I don't know about you but after all that went before their holiday diatribe that certainly filled me with a whole bunch of warms and fuzzies....or maybe it was just a reminder I had yet to visit the bathroom this morning. It also crossed my mind that they just may have been tempted to originally make that a wish for a 'Merry Trumpmas' but, after consideration, at this point it may have been pushing their agenda just a bit too far. Maybe next year.
One other thing that I felt should be brought to attention is that Donald and the new holy family went to church in Florida last night and, no, he did not burst into flames (DAMN!!!) but he entered to a standing ovation. Really. It's on tape. The only thing that seems to be missing is the brass fanfare and the costumed heralds and the dancing maidens throwing flower petals in his path. If one is to think about this for a second, the only times we've 'seen' the Obamas attending church is when they're attending an official religious function or when they're leaving as a family after a service. To be fair, we don't know this was an officially sanctioned film that has been released because cell phones are everywhere but nothing like this, to my knowledge, has ever been put out there with the Obamas featured front and center. Maybe it did happen but nobody thought it was something that needed to be posted like an episode of some reality show. I have to admit that my first reaction (other than my disappointment that, as i said, he didn't burst in flames. DAMN!!) was that this is something you usually only see done for the pope and, along with the Gateway wish for a merry Trump Christmas, are we just possibly seeing the birth of a new conservative America religion? Will future presentations of the Dicken's classic be re-titled 'A Trumpmas Carol'? Will Scrooge never find that redemption because, in the new version, he doesn't need it because 'greed is good' and Tiny Tim says 'Trump bless us, everyone' as he dies from lack of health care? Might the Bible be amended with the addition of a third 'testament', 'The Art of the Deal For the Soul'?
So, while we still have the time, wish your friends and loved ones a Merry Christmas, a Happy Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa or whatever your winter holiday of choice is because a Trumpmas may be just around the corner.
And look back on the Obama's final inclusive and loving White House Christmas message with fondness. We may never see it's like again because you just can't put that in a tweet.
UPDATE: I had to add this because it just came to my attention. After promising his evangelical supporters that he would protect their rights and they would be able to once more proclaim that proudly Christian 'Merry Christmas' salutation without fear of being harassed, ridiculed or otherwise roundly persecuted, Donald puts out his festive (?) holiday greeting on twitter (of course).

Festive, ain't it? And so warm and in line with the proud religious feelings he so professed to have while on the campaign trail, at one point holding the Bible upside down to prove how much he loved it and while addressing the students at a Christian university, turning himself into a joke by being unable to correctly name a book of the Bible (sheesh, dude, know your audience). No family. Just him with his tiny raised fist which in itself doesn't really give off any cheerful holiday vibe...more like a 'Be merry or I'll smack the shit out of you!'. Not even a smile. But at least it wasn't the nausea-inducing smirk and that damned thumbs up. I can't help but wonder if someone isn't kicking themselves for not making framed copies of this available for sale in the Trump Tower gift shop. It would have made a lovely stocking stuffer (just $99 dollars. $150 framed. $300 autographed.)
Now aren't you feeling silly laughing about those cards you get featuring the family in ugly sweaters or pets in Santa hats looking annoyed and planning on doing unspeakable things in your shoes or on your bed. Or cringing over those letters recapping all the highlights from the past year that make you wish you'd have put baby laxative in that fruitcake you sent. Be thankful. You could have gotten this which, I'm fairly sure, if you tried to return it, all you'd get is a store credit good for 25% off anything in the Ivanka Trump jewelry line. Be very thankful.
