what can i say?

it started out as a very beautiful day, but there were clouds all around.
actually, i was awake when the verdict was announced, so it wasn't like i awoke to a surprise, just a tremendous amount of sadness, and a great deal of WTF??  i switched on my computer to check on my notifications to see if there was anything new and began to scan the comments, which ranged from sad disbelief to outrage, both for and against the verdict and, while i didn't read all of them, most seemed to disagree with the jury.
i wanted to add my views to all the rest, but for the most part, everything i thought of was a simple re-hash of what was brought up in court and what, i feel (and i am admittedly not unbiased) the jury failed to sincerely consider:  zimmerman may not have been the primary aggressor, but he instigated the incident by ignoring police instructions; he was physically inept and felt a gun was his only option; of the many calls to 911, all involved persons of color (not one reported a white person) as being "suspicious".  i could go on, but i can't re-try a case that has been decided.
i will make two personal observations:
when they announced "not guilty", i SO wanted to slap that grin off his face.  no sign of remorse.  only that grin and that stupid "chuckle" during the trial.
and his lawyers, appearing on morning shows, constantly trying to cast their client as the "victim" and saying that they hope this can be viewed as a teachable moment.
so, to me, the verdict is a mystery.  i wonder at their reasoning and can't help but guestion how they filtered the evidence to reach that verdict.
but, then again, maybe it's just me.
oh, and i don't mean to muddy the waters any further. but also in florida a woman was convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison for firing warning shots to try and prevent an attack by her "supposedly abusive" ( the articles words, not mine) husband, against whom she had a protective order.  yup...a woman.  and, by the way, she's black.  and yes...florida. (see cbsnews.com 5/12/13).
