tired of all the hubub!

it's fairly early in the morning and i have started my routine:  let out the dog, fed him and the cat, gotten my newspaper off the rain-soaked front stoop (does anyone call it a stoop anymore?) and checked the notifications on my laptop.  and for the umpteenth morning in a row, many are concerning snowden and the nsa revelations.
every news program contains at least one blahblahblah and the newspaper has at least two articles, so why should i be surprised that there are at least 6 notifications a day pertaining to this story.  since they were kind enough to notify me of this or that variation of the same topic, i feel obliged to, at the least, scan each one for just a morsel of new information, and along with the main body of the article, i continue down through the comments others have felt the need to express.  and i have noticed a running theme:  we shouldn't be surprised because everything the government does is bad,  and not just bad but BAAAAAD!!!  they are the BOOGEYMAN!  they are the TRUE CRIMINALS!  and this snowden person is a person of conscience, a real "hero".
now, i realize that if this is read by anyone but the few that usually read my rantings, i will be vilified and demonized right alongside obama, the courts, many in congress and some pundits.  i thank you for thinking my opinions are so worthy in their eyes, but here goes.
nothing is unconstitutional unless it actually goes against the constitution.  granted, some have tried to do things that were, by the courts, deemed unconstitutional, even if just marginally.  fdr trying to pack the supreme court immediately comes to mind, but, mind you, it's early in the morning, i am typing because i'm just a tad annoyed and i really haven't done the research a well-rested person might have done, were they in my place.  "unconstitional" has turned into a catchall term to be used by any and everyone, when an action is taken by the government that ticks a group of people off.  "we think it's wrong, therefore it must be UNCONSTITUTIONAL!!" solution?  read the constitution (which, i'll admit, i haven't) or check with a constitutional lawyer (if you haven't already decided that all lawyers are bad, too).
now, for the criminal part.  granted this tends to be a little trickier, because the police and the courts, being lackeys of the government as a whole, definitely can't be fully trusted, either.  but, when criminal, there is an arrest, charges are made, indictments are filed, yadayadayad (i'm sure that you've seen enough episodes of "law and order").  but, according to so many voicing their opinions, almost everything the government does is criminal.  and the voices come from every side: democrat, republican, progressive...i could go on.  you know the saying "you can't please everyone"?  well nowadays it's "you can't please ANYONE".  but, getting back to criminal, this, too, has become a catchall phrase that is being totally overused and is also open to interpretation.  for instance, "she wore THAT blouse with THAT skirt?  how criminal."  or "it's criminal to put sour cream in you guacamole!"  or "those two men were holding hands in public?  how criminal!!" (i had to throw that one in, because in some areas of the country that action IS considered criminal).
to try and wrap this up, and here's where i'll get myself in trouble, but like snowden himself said, i stand behind my actions and know the consequences.  what he did WAS against the law, and if he was so proud of his actions, why did he flee the country and then "disappear"?  i know, i know...he was picked up by a government goon squad in a black helicopter and taken to some undisclosed location to some hole-in-the-wall prison the "doesn't officially exist", never to be seen again.  that seems to be the general consensus among those commenting.  he definitely made his point and put his face out there.  step up, fully state your case and let everything run it's course.  everyone is talking about it and there's no putting this genie back in the bottle.  granted, people are going to feel one way or another and i don't think many minds are going to be changed.  and, that's fine by me, but, to that end, i'll read my notifications but skip the comments about how "evil" our government is.  some folks, i guess, can't live without a boogeyman under the bed.
p.s.  one thing i find truly inane is when some one can take a subject, let's say, for example, like "erectional disfunction", and when commenting on it, out of left field, turn it into a governmental conspiracy, of course, in conjunction with EVIL BIG BUSINESS (i forgot to put them on my list before...mea culpa!)  okay...that's all...for now.
p.p.s.  oh, and though it doesn't apply in this particular situation (but, given enough time, i'm sure someone will come up with some kind of link), it also amazes me that, no matter what the topic, some will always find a way to lay the blame on the doorstep of organized religion and those who believe in their "imaginary god(s)".  well, so much for freedom to worship as one wants.  unless you worship NOT AT ALL you are labeled a gullible fool, moron, or worse.  but to not believe you are clinging TO a belief and worshiping at the altar of the non-divine.  but these are a faction of the non-believers, most of whom go about the lives, wanting and trying to be good, respectful people who will voice their opinions when asked, but not trying to tell everyone around them that what they believe is wrong.  okay....NOW i'm done.
