common sense fails

once again, the celebrations commence.  once again,  the minority rules.  once again, money governs.  the senate has voted down the attempt to control the rampant over-reach of fire arms in this country.  the cheering you'll hear is from the lobbys of the n.r.a., the gun and ammunition manufacturers and the rabid panic-inducing, lie-spreading fringe elements.  some members of the senate have shown that, despite the fact that an overwhelming majority of americans support the expansion of background checks, some members of the senate have shamefully shown that they do not represent the american people, only those that finance their re-elections, pay for their expensive vacations and help spread the message that corporate interests out-weigh the public good.                                                                                                                                 possibly the most disgusting thing about this, is the fact that they will feel no shame in avoiding their responsibilities.  they will feel that, in voting the way they did, they are honestly doing their duty by ignoring the wishes and feelings of a majority in this country. i don't pretend to know what is going on in their hardened hearts and closed minds. i can only hope that the hearts and minds of the people who put them in office are finally opened, and they realize what selfish cowards they continue to elect.  i hope they start to come to the conclusion that having lots of money, doesn't give anyone the right to make laws that benefit only the few.  if they...if WE don't make some changes and start electing officials that listen to US and not the demands of BIG MONEY, well, the travesty of today will be repeated.
